Volunteers Wanted for our Research Study

Would you like to take part in a study about Emotion Recognition for Affectively Intelligent E-Learning Technologies?
You are invited to share your personal experiences.

  • Compensation will be provided for participation up to $25.00!
  • Sharing your personal experiences of what it is like for you will assist us to develop better e-learning systems
  • Your participation will take about half an hour of your time where you will be asked to complete a series of questions/problems
  • Study will be conducted by appointment from April 20, 2010 through May 15, 2010.

Final Report (due on Apr 11)

  • Design and Development
    Design the Alternative to existing system
    Define the way you design the new interface from HCI perspective.
  • Test and Evaluation of the new system
    How do you test or evaluate your system
    Comprasion with the old version
Include Revisions of Phase #1 and #2
Make at least a cover page to make your report look like one
You have to submit your presentation files by this date, too

First go over your Phase #1 based on the comments I made and then add:
Requirements Specifications
Define the user profile (WHO your users are), Define Functional (HOW it will function), Environment and Context (WHERE and WHEN it will be used), and Task Requirements (WHAT will be done)
And what do you need to meet these demands.

Project Phase #1 (due Mar 12)
Evaluate the exiting interface design and identify the issues

  • Project Plan
    Review your project schedule provided with your Proposal and explain your project management strategy as explained on class on Mar 1st
  • Evaluation
    Expert Review / Usability Testing / Survey Design and/or Implementation / Evaluations plan to manage the design process. Expert Review is required, the other methods are optional.

Midterm grades are available on WebCampus

You can see your midterm grades on WebCampus along with your estimated Mid-Semester Letter Grades.
These letter grades are based on over 35 points (5 for proposals, 20 for midterm, and 10 for class participation). You class participation points are not final, it can still fluctuate in either way.

Midterm test is on Feb 24 during class hours

Midterm test will include chapters 1 through 5 inclusive. In other words, it covers all class from the beginning to Feb 17 (inclusive).
The test will be open source, you can bring your notes, books, slides, computer (as long as you do NOT connect to Internet).

And remember, if you were in the class physically and mentally, then you do not need to study. I will test not how much you can memorize but how much you have learned.
I will make a brief review on Monday's class on Feb 22.

Choose a Team Leader for your Projects in your Proposals

Also I would like you choose a Project Manager (or you can call Team Leader, Team Manager, or whatever) for your Group. S/he will be responsible of coordinating the group and the project and s/he will be my primary contact for your teams.
